SPECIALTIES

I work best with athletes training for anything from the 5K to the marathon. I also specialize in base building, strength and mobility, and helping athletes return from time off or from injury recovery. I also try to help runners who are balancing family, work, and life, so I make sure training fits into that.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe running should be sustainable and enjoyable. My job as a coach is to create individualized training that challenges you but also works with your schedule and life. I use evidence-based training principles but keep things flexible, so you can enjoy the process and build confidence without burning out.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I’ve been a high school cross country and track head coach for four years, leading my team to 5 state championships, multiple all-state athletes, and conference titles. I’ve also written training for runners coming back after a break, first-time half marathoners, and athletes chasing PRs. With my background in kinesiology and sports management, I make sure strength, mobility, and injury prevention are part of the plan as well.

ABOUT ME

I’m a former teacher, a coach, a husband, a dad, and a musician. I have ran 14 half marathons in 10 states now, with an aim to run a race in all 50 states. I hold two master’s degrees, and I’ve spent most of my career in education/athletics. During my time at Friends University, I competed in NAIA division cross country. Outside of coaching and running, I love playing piano and spending time with my wife and daughter.

BIG INFLUENCES

I pull from Arthur Lydiard’s ideas on endurance, Jack Daniels’ training models, and lessons I learned from great coaches I worked with in high school and college. I also take Eliud Kipchoge’s catch phrase to heart: No human is limited. We are all capable of great things, and my aim is to bring that out of you.

RACING HISTORY

I have ran since 2016, with some breaks from then until now. I have ran 14 half marathons, with the first being the Bentonville Half marathon in 2016 and the fasted being the Revel Rockies Half Marathon in 2023. From 2019-2020, I ran for Friends University (NAIA) with some of my seasons being affected by covid. After a long break, I am beginning to train again for new races.
