SPECIALTIES
I have run races from 5 km to 250 miles, but my specialty is in training and racing marathons and longer. This includes trail, road, and track events. I also have experience with fixed-time events and the unique mental challenges they bring.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that consistency is the most important part of a successful running program. There is a lot to be said for showing up and putting in the work. Having the motivation, the willingness, and the drive to do that is one thing, but finding the time is often the biggest obstacle. Every runner is unique and has their own time challenges with family, work, and life. I aim to help athletes achieve a balanced and sustainable approach to training and racing.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
I have coached friends and family throughout the years and have enjoyed the satisfaction of helping others reach their goals. I have personally been working with a running coach from 2013 until now. This experience has elevated my own running and provided me with knowledge and experience with training programming, training and racing strategies, race day nutrition, planning, problem solving, and much more.
ABOUT ME
I am a husband, a father of 3 kids, a hobby woodworker, an engineer, and a plant-based athlete. I currently live in the Houston, TX area but have previously lived in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kuala Lumpur, MY and Abu Dhabi, UAE. I love to travel and enjoy finding new and interesting places to run.
I have been a runner for over 40 years and have been racing since middle school. I love training for and racing just about any distance and enjoy the variety of running on track, road, and trail. As I age, I continue to push my limits with endurance by training for and racing in a variety of events that interest and challenge me.
One of my favorite moments as a runner was being part of the USA 24 hour team and racing at the 24 hour World Championships in Taipei, Taiwan in 2023. Since running is typically an individual sport, racing as part of Team USA was something very special and definitely a highlight of my career. Another very different, but equally special running experience was racing the Tor des Geants in 2018. This 330km race that circumvents the Aosta Valley in the Italian alps challenged me both physically and mentally. Running through the alps, experiencing small mountain villages, sleeping in mountain huts, and sharing miles with new friends were all amazing, but I was mostly impacted by working through the low points, dealing with sleep deprivation, experiencing hallucinations, and pushing myself to places I had never been.
Running has always been a big part of my life, and it has been the inspiration for many family vacations over the years. This coincides with my love for travel and experiencing new places and cultures. As a result of my running and my day job, I have had the good fortune to travel to 34 countries outside the US.
BIG INFLUENCES
My current and previous ultrarunning coaches, Matt Urbanski and Andy Dubois, have both been hugely influential in my running journey. They have helped me to become smarter, stronger, and faster in my own running and have taught me so much about the sport of ultrarunning. I am also a self-proclaimed running geek and have read countless books, articles, and papers about all things running throughout the years. Current influences include Alex Hutchinson, Jason Koop, and Steve Magness.

I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Chad so far! His dedication to his athletes individual goals and is evidenced in the thought and detail that goes into the program. Each week strikes the right balance of challenging but achievable. Chad is super easy to talk to and always accessible, whether checking in after a run or answering random questions about a workout. In fact, the only time we went more than a day without checking in was when he was busy running the 24-Hour World Championships — so you know you’re learning from someone with loads of experience and an impressive list of results to show for it. I’ve seen noticeable progress in a just a few months and am excited for what’s to come.

If you are hesitant about pulling the trigger, this is your sign to do it. Coach Chad has been amazing in my pursuit of qualifying for the Boston Marathon. His workouts are individually crafted, and he is awesome at remaining in communication throughout the whole process. For someone as accomplished as he is, I thought he would not have time for my concerns and adjustments, but I was wrong. He really is the best coach out there! Regardless of what distance you are pursuing, he is the guy you want in your corner.

Chad has been an exemplary running coach. I selected him based on his extensive experience, distinguished accomplishments, and congenial demeanor. I greatly appreciate the feedback he provides subsequent to each training run. His accessibility and prompt responsiveness are truly commendable. I initiated my collaboration with him in May, following medical clearance to resume running after an uncommon spinal cord injury. He has been instrumental in assisting me in rebuilding my volume and strength. I eagerly anticipate the achievements I will realize this year under his guidance and guidance.

I reached out to Chad about some intense goals that I knew most coaches would second guess. Not this coach. On our first phone call, I instantly felt like I had someone on my side and was going into my 24 hour run with a real team backing me. I have so much appreciation for Chad’s attention to detail in my recovery, fueling, and any injuries. I’m a more confident runner because of Chad.
Jay Wimberly –
I’ve been coached previously throughout my running career depending upon the different goals I had at the time. But I have never had such a professional, detail oriented, patient, and thorough coach such as Chad. He really goes above and beyond, taking his time to look at my near/long term goals while giving me his honest feedback. As well as, he actively views my daily workouts, how I’m feeling, my recovery, sleep, and then corresponds with me on a regular basis about them all via email or text.. Furthermore, he is the most positive person Ive ever worked with. I can’t say enough about this guy, not to mention his experience, his track record and work ethic speaks for itself.
Trust me when I say this, if you are looking for one of the best hidden secrets (of coaches) in the country, this is your guy… I can’t wait to see what my future holds with Chad..I aint going NO WHERE…

I have been working with Chad for 2 months now and my progress has been remarkable! Chad has been encouraging, gives daily feedback, and explains the purpose for each workout so my goals for each day are clear. I have some really BIG ultramarathon goals for this year and 2025 and I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish under Chad’s guidance.
