PHILOSOPHY

One of the best things about running is that it can be a lifelong sport if you play your cards right. I focus on longevity by avoiding injury and burnout, so you can run through all the stages of your life. There will naturally be ups and downs, periods of celebration and others of frustration, but I like to focus on sustainability for the long term. As a coach, I will help you build your confidence as a runner and human being and positively impact your mental and physical health. I have personal experience safely returning to running after a baby twice now (and will be doing it for a third time pretty soon)! I know how challenging it can be to fit running into a busy schedule, and how rewarding and fulfilling it is to use your limited “me time” to run or train for a race. I will help you get the most out of the limited time you have and will help you adapt your training schedule when the realities of life inevitably throw it off course.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been coaching in various capacities since 2018. In addition to coaching individual athletes through Team RunRun, I am also the assistant coach for a Women’s NCAA Division 1 Cross Country/Track team. I am USATF certified to coach all distances, and love working with beginners just as much as collegiate stars.

ABOUT ME

I am a former sprinter turned recreational distance runner, who loves to challenge myself and make new friends! I thrive when I am helping others grow and accomplish things they once thought were impossible. I am a mom to 3 young daughters (and 2 golden retrievers) and work a corporate job. I have firsthand experience fitting training into a hectic schedule and have also safely returned to running after giving birth. I love to travel and try new restaurants. I can’t wait to get to know you as a runner and as a person!

BIG INFLUENCES

My daughters, who exude so much joy when they “play running”. I am also inspired by amazing female coaches like Juli Benson and Diljeet Taylor.

RACING HISTORY

If you had asked me about running when I was 10, 16, or even 25 years old, I would have told you I was a sprinter. I would have said, “I have no desire to run a marathon” and “I couldn’t do it even if I wanted to.” For 25+ years, I rarely ran more than 1 mile at a time (shout out to my fellow 100m & 200m track athletes). At some point in my late 20s, I started experimenting with running longer distances. I decided to challenge myself mentally and physically by signing up for a 10K. I completed the race but I felt ROUGH afterwards, and I thought “Ok that was that. I can be all done with ‘distance’ running now!” But…a bit more time went on and I got the itch to start training for another race. I signed up for my first half marathon in 2019 and loved that experience. I realized what it meant to get a “runner’s high” and I really liked how that felt. After that first Half, I had my first baby, then did another Half, and then had another baby! As a result of my second birth, I untapped a new level of mental strength and an overwhelming appreciation for what my body is capable of. At this point, I knew I was capable of training for and finishing a marathon if I really wanted to, and I was ready to take on that challenge. I completed my first marathon (the Boston Marathon) in April 2024. I’m now using my marathon training fitness as a springboard into PRs in shorter distances.

Coach Amanda has been wonderful in helping me adjust to longer distance races after my college running career. She is super helpful with giving workouts and advice. She communicates quickly and effectively, even commenting on most all of my runs.

Coach Amanda is SO great! I have been a runner for most of my life, but running solo can be very hard, especially when you have to coach yourself, but working with Coach Amanda is already paying off! She gives great advice & asks good questions to make make think about my training and what I want to get out of it, while also offering alternatives for days I’m busy/sick/etc. I look forward to her workouts for me every weekend and have loved how I feel running again!!

I’ve been running consistently for a few years now but did not have a coach until Coach Hamilton. She’s helped bring a lot of structure to my training plans, building in different paces and workouts to help me achieve my goals. I love the app integration with my Apple Watch (even if it won’t sync all of my runs). I also love being able to work with her to adjust my schedule for travel, work, illnesses etc. Learning how to run slow for my easy runs has been difficult, but I never would have bothered to try without having the support to learn to run slow and maintain pace (running fast is so much more fun!). Hoping to set some new PRs after all the good work we’ve done together!

Amanda has been so great at helping me get back into running after having my second child. She is encouraging, fun, and thoughtful. She knows what it’s like to be a busy working mom and always makes sure my training plan works with my schedule, even providing options for bringing the running stroller or squeezing something in between work meetings. My first race in years was so fun and I felt faster and stronger than I had even planned!
