PHILOSOPHY
I am competitive, and passionate about providing athletes with the best environment to pursue success as defined by them. I believe setting new and harder challenges for yourself through running is one of the most powerful ways to grow as an athlete and as a person. I love supporting athletes on their individual journeys as they reach for new goals, return to the sport after a time away, or come to find the joy in running for the first time.
COACHING EXPERIENCE
Personal Coach to half-marathoners, marathoners, and trail runners (2023-present)
Head Coach of a High School team that is competitive at the regional and national level (2024-present)
Assistant Coach of a High School team that is the defending State champion and Podium-ranking at the regional and national level (2020-2024)
ABOUT ME
As much as I love running, I love being on and around the water. My cross-training consists mainly of long distance paddling, by both kayak and SUP. I find the endurance mindset that I practice in running to lend itself well to these activities, and appreciate the additional challenge of strategizing around currents and tides. I was a high school cross country runner who returned to running and found a deeper joy in it in adulthood. Now I get to share this passion with my friends and am very grateful for the many ways in which running, and focus on active pursuits at large, helps to build our community. You’d be hard-pressed to get me to turn down a a track workout, however a long trail run is also one of my favorite ways to start the day.
BIG INFLUENCES
I attribute my biggest coaching influences to those I have coached with and who have coached me. Additionally, I pursue opportunities to meet and learn from nationally-acclaimed coaches and speakers at annual conferences such as the Wildwood Running Conference. I am consistently pursuing ways to improve my craft and practice as a coach, including new learning and certification opportunities which allow me to explore the latest best practices routed in sustainable success.

Justin Bergman –
As an older runner (43) just getting into running for the first time in my life it’s so difficult to balance ego/inexperience with training. Especially in a world dominated by comparison and social media.
“my heart rate is too fast”
“why am I slower than everyone?”
“how come I can’t run as far as the other people?
“why does everything hurt?”
“should I be lifting weights?”
“Is it supposed to feel like this?”
So I decided to get a coach and I wanted someone local that I could meet in person to help me learn how to run; to work on the WHEN and HOW FAR and HOW FAST parts but also the form and mechanics.
Having worked with Coach Alexa for several months I am running faster and with less injury than ever before. I feel strong in my legs and running is more of a joy each day. I set a personal record in my half marathon time and am now working on training for longer distances.
I think one of the most valuable parts of being coached by Alexa is restraint. Some days and weeks I need to run less than I want to and it’s so hard to know when those times are. Alexa’s programming keeps me progressing at just the right speed and she keeps a great communication link open whenever I have questions.

A humble review from a humble runner.
How does a runner who has no idea how to comfortably receive a compliment write a complimentary review about how happy they are with their coach and the work put in? That is a good question and not one I am able to answer. However, I am more happy than a squirrel that just discovered an island to himself full of oak trees bursting with acorns with Alexa’s training plan so far. I am an impulsive person with outlandish ambitions and a tight schedule that makes my body scream “Hey, maybe you should try sleeping and taking a day off!” I just don’t operate that way. I operate in the sense of, “Hey, there is this race 6 weeks away. I should sign up for it and then surprise Alexa with developing a training plan to get me to that race.” Not only did Alexa’s plan work with my limited schedule of maybe 90 minutes available each day to run and strength train, but I set an all-time half marathon PR and won the race. If that isn’t smart training, I don’t know what is. The mere fact that I am here talking about the results of my race when everything in my introvert brain is screaming “No, don’t brag” is a testament to how much I enjoyed working with Alexa to achieve my lofty goals.

Alexa is an incredible coach! I took a break from running for a few years and she used my prior history with where I am at currently and built an incredible training plan to meet my goals. It can be scary to begin running or get back into it after time off, but Alexa is so kind and friendly and helps adapt your plan so it doesn’t seem like too much to start off it. She is constantly challenging me and pushing me in such positive ways and the improvement in a short amount of time has been so encouraging. She is great about checking in and available for any questions or advice you may need along the way. I am getting back into the race shape I was at a few years ago and that is all thanks to her. No matter what shape you’re in, what your running goals are, she will meet you where you’re at and I cannot recommend her more.
